革蘭氏陰性菌，以大腸桿菌為代表。革蘭氏陰性菌細胞壁的特徵為有一層外膜與陽性菌種不同。與只包括少數幾支的革蘭氏陽性菌不同，大部分門的細菌屬於革蘭氏陰性菌。
