Trade means the exchange of goods and money. A person giving something looks for a customer who is in need for the same thing. In exchange, the customer offers the supplier another good or money.

To buy something is to give someone money so they give you the thing you want. This is called an exchange. The person you are buying from is selling. Buying and selling are a major part of modern economics.

In the past people would barter instead of buying goods. Nowadays trade often occurs between large companies or even nations. Free trade is one of the basic rules of the western political system (capitalism).Taxes between two countries trading are called tarrifs, avoiding taxes is considered smuggling.
