Leisure (or: recreation) is the use of free time (times when people can choose what to do; when they don't have an obligation like being at school or a job) for fun, family, or non-work activity. It is called recreation since it is for re-creating the self with play.

Common forms of recreation or leisure are:

A vacation or holiday is the setting aside of time specifically for leisure. Often it refers to people travelling out of town and staying at a hotel so that they can do things they couldn't do near home.
