Gambling is a contest where players bet on the result of an event. The loser of the bet gives the winner money. The rules and the amount of money bet are decided before the event happens.

There are problems with gambling.

• some people are addicted to it. They cannot stop gambling, and lose a lot of money.
• Sometimes gambling is not fair. If you win or if you lose, you should have to pay the same amount of money.

A very common form of gambling is called Lotto (or the Lottery). Very often lotteries are run by the state. Usually, the idea is to guess 7 out of 45 or 50 numbers correctly before they are picked.
