Evidence is something that is used to support an argument. It gives examples of why something is true. For example, if you come across a saucer of spilled milk, you could look for evidence as to how the milk was spilled. If you found hairs of a cat and cat-paw prints on the ground, you would be able to say that you had found 'evidence' that suggested that a cat was the cause of the spilled milk.
