교회(교회,)는 그리스어 에클레시아ekklesia(조직)에서 나온 말로, 하나님혹은 하느님을 믿는 사람들의 예배공동체를 뜻한다. 우리말은 한자어로, 가르치고 모인다는 뜻으로 풀이된다. 좁은 의미에서는 건물로서의 교회당을 의미한다.
