Lev Semjonovitš Vygotski (Лев Семенович Выготский, s. 12. marraskuuta 1896, k. 11. kesäkuuta 1934) oli valkovenäläinen psykologi, kulttuurihistoriallisen teorian perustaja yhdessä Aleksandr Lurijan ja A. N. Leontjevin kanssa.

Elämä

Vygotski syntyi samana vuonna kuin Jean Piaget Orshassa, Valko-Venäjällä (tuohon aikaan osa Venäjän keisarikuntaa). Hänen elämän päättyi kuitenkin jo 37 vuotiaana tuberkuloosin aiheuttamaan kuolemaan. Lyhyen elämänsä aikana Vygotski hahmotteli kulttuurihistoriallisen psykologian teoreettiset peruslähtökohdat. Valtavan tuotantonsa vuoksi häntä onkin sanottu psykologian Mozartiksi.
