Resumen de la temporada inaugural de 1950 de Fórmula 1 con siete grandes premios válidos para el Campeonato Mundial. Ese año hubo además otras 16 importantes carreras internacionales dentro de la temporada.

Sumario

Se adjudicaron puntos a los cinco primeros lugares (8, 6, 4, 3, 2). Un punto por la vuelta más rápida. Para la cuenta final del campeonato sólo se contaron los cuetro mejores resultados de siete posibles. Los puntos obtenidos por pilotos que compartieron vehículo eran adjudicados por partes iguales entre los pilotos, sin importar el número de vueltas en las que hubieran participado.

En este primer campeonato participaron 18 equipos (7 constructores y 11 participantes privados) en 6 Grandes Premios en Europa (en la carrera Indy 500 sólo participaron pilotos y equipos de Estados Unidos).

Notas

Tres vehículos Talbot-Lago piloteados por Guy Mairesse, Charles Pozzi y Pierre Levegh corrieron sin combre de equipo.

La posición final de Fagioli fue segundo con 28 puntos. En el Gran Premio de Italia de 1950 el piloto italiano fue descalificado y reubicado en último puesto perdiéndo los 4 puntos obtenidos en la carrera.

Schell fue el primer piloto de Estados Unidos que participó en esta temporada con vehículos Cooper-JAP y Talbot-Lago-Talbot, en dos grandes premios en Europa.
