The common yabby, Cherax destructor, is a freshwater crayfish, whose colour can be anything from blue to green or red. It is found in Australia, where it is the most widely distributed crayfish species; it is also found in Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and New Zealand.
They are a popular species for aquaculture, although their burrowing can destroy dam banks.
