Tween is a neologism describing a child between middle childhood and adolescence, generally in the age range of 8 to 12 years old although some marketers would extend the upper range to 14-year olds.

Marketers describe the driving psychographic motivation of this group as desperately wanting to be a teen, but not about to stop being a kid. The catchphrase descriptor for girls in this demographic is "too old for toys, but too young for boys".
