A Touch Suit is a relatively obscure term used to describe an interactive garment that is worn while interfacing a Virtual Reality system. The proposed technology would allow the VR system to provide live force feedback to a user's entire body, such as:

  • Tightening areas of the suit to prevent movement, simulating barriers or strain.
  • Pressing against the skin to simulate touch.
  • Heating and cooling to simulate friction or a change in temperature.

The goal of a touch suit is the full immersal of the user in a virtual world by stimulating more than just the visual and audio senses currently supported by mainstream VR technology.
