Tape usually refers to a rolled up strip of long, thin and narrow matter; however a notable exception to the scheme of the definition is its misnomerous reference to audio media in disk or solid state format after the introduction of the audio tape.

• Red tape, a colloquialism for heavy or undesirable bureaucratic process

Misnomers
