Syringol, also called 2,6-dimethoxyphenol, 1,3-dimethoxy-2-hydroxybenzene, 2-hydroxy-1,3-dimethoxybenzene, or pyrogallol 1,3-dimethyl ether, is an organic compound. It is a dimethyl ether of pyrogallol. It is a gray to light brown solid with melting point of 52-56 °C and boiling point of 261 °C. It is slightly soluble in water. It is combustible, with flash point at 140 °C. . Its EINECS number is 202-041-1.

Together with guaiacol, syringol (and its derivates) is a characteristic product of pyrolysis of lignin. Its presence in smoke is characteristical for wood smoke. In preparation of food by smoking, syringol is the main chemical responsible for the smoky aroma, while guaiacol contributes mainly to taste.
