Superluminescent diode (SLD) is an edge-emitting semiconductor light source based on superluminescence, combines high power and brightness of laser diodes with low coherence of ELED.
Emission band (on 2005): 20-100 nm.
It was invented in 1986 by Gerard A. Alphonse.
