Pannus is a medical term for a hanging flap of skin. It is usually found in the abdomen of people who have recently lost a significant amount of weight. Pannus is commonly referred to as "fat folds" or "rolls." These are not complimentary terms.

In people suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, pannus tissue eventually forms in the joint affected by the disease, causing loss of bone and cartilage.

In veterinary medicine pannus means a chronic inflammation in the cornea of dogs.
