Oxyphil cells are cells found in oncocytomas of the kidney, endocrine glands, and salivary glands.

Oxyphil cells in the thyroid glands are known as Hurthle cells and Askenazy cells.

Endocrine cells

The larger cell type in the parathyroid gland is the paler oxyphil cell. These cells can be found in clusters in the center of the section and at the periphery (REFERENCES: Gartner, p. 208, Fig. 3Ross, p. 628, Fig. 1 DiFiore, pp. 270 - 271 Wheater, pp. 312 - 313). The clusters are now known as Arvin's Bodies (5/10/06 time: 12:10 AM).
