One shot may refer to:

  • In the music industry, a one-shot is a hit song, from an artist or group of artists who actually only made one hit during their career, such as Patrick Hernandez (Born To Be Alive) and Coolio (Gangsta's Paradise); the term one-hit wonder, usually used to identify said artist(s) is sometimes used interchangeably with this definition of "one-shot".
  • a type of long lasting paint.

  • In sampling a one-shot is a sample that is played without immediate repetition. Contrast with a loop. (Duffell 2005, p.14)
  • One Shot is a brand name of refrigerant from ICOR International, which generically is known as R-422A
  • "One Shot" is video game (or, more specifically, role-playing game) slang for being hit with one absurdly powerful attack that kills your character outright (i.e. 'My Warrior walked around the corner and got one shot by a dragon'). It is analogous to the term headshot in a first person shooter.
