In genetics, non-Mendelian inheritance is the passing on of a trait in a form other than through chromosomal inheritance. This is especially used to talk about inheritance patterns. Forms of non-Mendelian inheritance include the inheritance of mitochondrial or chloroplast and traits diseases and traits. Also included are infectious heredity and genetic maternal effects.
