A vaginoplasty is any surgical operation with the aim of correcting structural defects in the vagina or even to construct or reconstruct it. When used to produce a new vagina when one is lacking (a neovagina), it is called neovaginoplasty.

There are several non-reconstructive vaginoplasties, such as vagina tightening and toning, particularly in women (or their sexual partners) who have experienced orgasmic difficulties in sexual intercourse due to the loss of muscle tone, such as in disease or after giving birth by vaginal parturition.

Vaginoplasty may also include operations to relieve an imperforate hymen or to restore a ruptured hymen.
