Mass flow rate is the movement of mass per time. Its unit is mass over time - kilogram per second in SI units and slug per second or pound per second in English units.
Mass flow rate can be calculated if one knows the density of the liquid (or gas), its velocity, and the cross sectional area of flow.
The mass flow rate can also be calculated by multiplying the volume flow rate by the density.
