Little bluestem (Schizachyrium scoparium), also called alkali grass or desert saltgrass, is a North American prairie grass. Little bluestem is a perennial bunchgrass, and is prominent in tallgrass prairie, along with big bluestem (Andropogon gerardii), indiangrass (Sorghastrum nutans) and switchgrass (Panicum virgatum).
