Kudos (, from the Greek κύδος kydos, literally "that which is heard of") means fame and renown resulting from an act or achievement; by extension is often used as a praising remark. It entered English as British university slang in the early 1800s. Frequently used by Time magazine, it came to America in the 1920s and 1930s.

Note that despite the sound of the American pronunciation ( or ), the word is singular, not plural. Thus one can say "much kudos" but never "many kudos".

Kudos is also the name of several things:

• Kudos is the name of a line of granola products produced by M&M Mars.
• Kudos is the name of a television production company in the United Kingdom. See Kudos (production company).
• It is a points system in the video game Metropolis Street Racer and the Project Gotham Racing series, whereby one accrues points by outstanding driving, including performing powerslides, overtaking, and "getting a good line around a corner".

• The QDOS operating system was supposedly named so to sound as kudos.
