Inhalational anaesthetics are gases or vapours possessing anaesthetic qualities. The agents of significant contemporary interest include the volatile anaesthetics (halothane, isoflurane, sevoflurane and desflurane) and the gasses ethylene, nitrous oxide and xenon.
