Human serum albumin is the most abundant protein in human blood plasma. It is produced in the liver. The reference range for albumin concentrations in blood is 30 to 50 g/L (3.0 to 5.0 g/dL). It has a serum half-life of approximately 20 days. It has a molecular mass of 67 kDa.

Hypoalbuminemia


Low blood albumin levels can be caused by malnutrition, malabsorption, liver disease, nephrotic syndrome, neoplasia or pregnancy. Human serum albumin is the most abundant protein in human blood plasma. It is produced in the liver.

Hyperalbuminemia


Typically is a sign of severe dehydration.
