Halterneck refers to a type of women's clothing with one strap around the back of the neck instead of two over the shoulders. This can either refer to a dress or a top (called a halter top), a type of sleeveless shirt similar to a tank top (in the American English meaning of the phrase).

Halterneck garments are generally considered more provocative because they leave the back free — exposing the shoulder blades. A strapless bra is usually worn with such a top as bra shoulder straps would be exposed. Some Halterneck garments may tie at the neck; this is often seen in bathing suits. The Halterneck helps to enhance small chests.
