A game developer is a person or business involved in game development, the process of designing and creating games. Game developers often specialize in a particular type of game.
A board game developer designs board games. Designers of German-style board games are often credited on the box.
Collectible card game developers design games which are played with cards that can be traded and often collected. Richard Garfield, the creator of The Gathering, is probably the most famous collectible card game developer.
Role-playing game developers create role-playing games (RPGs). Gary Gygax and David Arneson are two of the most famous RPG developers. Together they created Dungeons & Dragons, one of the earliest RPGs which inspired countless others.
