Franchise generally means a right or privilege. It may refer to:

  • Suffrage, the civil right to vote
  • A franchise (i.e., a franchise outlet) operated under the business method of franchising: the licensing of trademarks and methods of doing business. This use of the term is most common in North America
  • An exclusive right
  • A government-granted monopoly, e.g. a "cable franchise"
  • Media franchise, ownership of the characters and setting of a film, video game, book, etc., particularly in North American usage
  • Franchise (Asimov), a 1989 novel (and a story in the anthology Nine Tomorrows) by Isaac Asimov
