Floral design is the art of using materials and flowers found in nature to create a pleasing and balanced composition for the enjoyment of people.

This art is arguably as old as mankind. Culture of Ancient Egypt already features refined floristry.

The most well known variety of floral design is flower arrangement (or floristry), ikebana in particular. Ikebana represents the Oriental style of floral design, which features simplicity and purity of lines and colors. In contrast, European style features mass and color richness and variety.

A popular variety is creation of composition from dried herbs.

The art of floral design includes making wreaths, floral bows, garlands, etc.
