Endopeptidase are a type of peptidase, and are contrasted to exopeptidases.

Endopeptidases chemically break peptide bonds within the molecule.

They are usually very specific for certain amino acids.

Examples of endopeptidases include:

• Trypsin
• Chymotrypsin
• Pepsin
• Elastase
