Dubbing is a process of adding, duplicating, or replacing recorded material (usually audio). The major forms are:

  • Dubbing (filmmaking), replacing dialogue, either with a foreign language or replacing audio that is poor due to noise or other factors present in the original recording.
  • Dubbing (music), duplicating a recording, or adding an additional piece of sound to an existing recording (also see audio mixing).
  • Dubbing (transferring), the process of copying audio or video information to other media.
  • Dubbing (fly tying), the process of adding natural or synthetic short-fibered materials to the fishing fly body by first attaching them to the fly tying thread by for instance twisting between your thumb and forefinger, and then winding the dubbed thread on to the fly body; the materials used for this purpose.
