Sociology of culture, also known as cultural sociology is one of the most dynamic fields in current sociology, particularly in the United States and Europe. Drawing from Max Weber as well as Emile Durkheim, modern cultural sociologists have developed their own notions of culture, one of the most debated concepts in sociology. Key figures in today's cultural sociology include Jeffrey Alexander, Mabel Berezin, Michele Lamont, Lynn Spielman, and Ann Swidler; with the works of these people covering such diverse topics such as racism, fascism, love, and trade associations.
