A cubic foot is an Imperial / U.S. customary (non-metric) unit of volume, used in both the United States and the UK. It is defined as the volume of a cube with sides of 1 foot (0.3048 metres) in length.

Standard cubic foot


A standard cubic foot is sometimes but not always a cubic foot of volume at 60 degrees Fahrenheit and 14.7 pounds per square inch (PSI) of pressure. The standard cubic foot is used to measure quantities of gas. See standard temperature and pressure.

Trillion cubic feet, commonly abbreviated as Tcf, is used in the oil and gas industry. The term trillion in this case refers to 1012, the short scale definition employed by most English speaking countries.
