Carbimazole is used to treat hyperthyroidism. It prevents the peroxidase enzyme from coupling and iodinating the tyrosine residues on thyroglobulin, hence reducing the T3/T4.

adverse effects: most serious adverse effect of carbimazole is bone marrow depression which can lead to agranulocytosis. this is almost always reversible following withdrawal of the drug.
