Zafarظفار is an ancient Arabian site, situated in Yemen, some 130 km southsouthwest of the capital Sanaá. It was the capital of the Himyarites, who ruled much of southern Arabia (c. 115 BC—c. 525).

The boy's name Zafar is of Arabic origin, and its meaning is "victory." ^*

Zafar was one of the most prosperous and celebrated cities in southern Arabia prior to the Persian conquest. The city was home to both Christian and Jewish communities.

Zafar was also the name of the last Mughal emperor of India whose full name was Bahadur Shah Zafar بہادر شاہ ظفر.He used Zafar as his pen name in writing Urdu Shaayri.He was a direct descedent of emperor Shahjahan who built the Taj Mahal.
