Yinxu (殷墟) was the ancient capital of the latter part of the Shang Dynasty (1600 BC - 1046 BC) of China. It was located in central Henan province, near the city of Anyang.

It is famous for the discovery of oracle bones and their inscriptions which are thought to be the beginnings of Chinese characters and writing.
