Trivia
- This is the second time The Undertaker won a WrestleMania match without using his Tombstone Piledriver. The Undertaker went for a Tombstone against King Kong Bundy but the latter was too heavy, forcing the Undertaker to turn the move into a bodyslam and improvise with a clothesline for the pin.
- This is the first WrestleMania featuring the striped referee shirts. All previous WrestleMania events had the referees wearing button-up shirts and bow-ties. This is also the only WrestleMania appearance of the long-sleeved striped referee shirt (and one if it's rare appearances. It has not been used since 1995, save for Jesse Ventura's role as guest referee at SummerSlam 1999).
- This is the first World Wrestling Federation pay-per-view to use the "WWF New Generation" logo as the logo at the bottom of the screen.
- Due to a production foul-up, one of the WrestleMania ring aprons did not get shipped to the Hartford Civic Center. As a result, the standard blue "WWF logo" ring apron had to be used on the blind-side of the camera. (It is visible most notably when Shawn Michaels leads Jenny McCarthy around the ring.)
- Bret Hart considers the "I Quit" Match he had with Bob Backlund to be his worst match ever.
- This is one of two "submissions only" matches at WrestleMania. The other would also feature Bret Hart at WrestleMania 13 against "Stone Cold" Steve Austin.
- This is the second consecutive WrestleMania that featured "Rowdy" Roddy Piper as the guest referee for a Bret Hart match. (At WrestleMania X, Piper was the guest referee for Hart's WWF Championship Match against Yokozuna.)
- WrestleMania XI was the first WrestleMania where former co-holders of the WWF Tag Team Championship (Shawn Michaels and Diesel) faced each other for the WWF Heavyweight title. This would happen again at WrestleMania XIV when Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels squared off as well as the Fatal Fourway at WrestleMania 2000 which featured The Rock and Mick Foley. This would also happen at WrestleMania 21 when Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio faced each other, although they were the reigning WWE (SmackDown!) Tag Team Champions at the time.
- This was Scott Hall's last match at WrestleMania using the name Razor Ramon. He returned at WrestleMania X8 in a match against Stone Cold Steve Austin.
- Ironically enough, this was the first and only appearance of Steve McMichael at WrestleMania. A year later, McMichael would join rival WCW.
- Diesel was the first champion to retain the World Championship at a WrestleMania since Hulk Hogan beat André the Giant at WrestleMania III.
- The fifth consecutive WrestleMania (and seventh overall) to have a title match end in a count out or disqualification. Jeff Jarrett became the fifth man to retain the Intercontinental title at WrestleMania despite losing the match (following Greg Valentine, The Honky Tonk Man, Mr. Perfect , and Shawn Michaels).
