The World Wrestling Association was a wrestling promotion based in Los Angeles, California during the 1960s.
The WWA was formed from the North American Wrestling Alliance and based primarily out of the Los Angeles Olympic Auditorium under the banner of West Coast promoters Gene & Mike LeBell. It split from the National Wrestling Alliance when it chose to recognize Édouard Carpentier’s controversial World Title victory over Lou Thesz and subsequently formed a working agreement with the Japanese Wrestling Association before rejoining the NWA in 1968. The WWA name was also bought by Dick the Bruiser for promoting a circuit out of Indiana in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s.
