The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) is the international governing body for flying disc sport including disc golf, discathon, distance, accuracy, self caught flight, guts frisbee, double disc court, Ultimate (outdoor, indoor, beach), and freestyle. Overall events, such as Santa Cruz's World Disc Games may feature competition sanctioned by WFDF member organizations such as beach ultimate's BULA or the freestyle players association FPA. WFDF is a member of the General Association for International Sport Federations (GAISF), The International World Games Association (IWGA), and the International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE). Flying disc sport rose with the invention of plastic and will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2007.
