Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM) is the new graphic driver model for video cards running under Windows Vista.
According to Microsoft:
Windows Vista will include WDDM Version 1.0.
At WinHEC 2006, Microsoft talked about how it was planning a major change to WDDM to allow for better scheduling of tasks (multitasking) on GPUs. WDDM 1.0 only allows rudimentary task scheduling. The upcoming WDDM 2.0, which Microsoft has not put an introduction date on, will require a new generation of GPUs.
