Almost every article in Wikipedia could do with some expansion. This page is for listing those for which there is a specific request. It is an excellent venue to publicize important articles which are embarrassingly short or insufficient for an encyclopedia of the stature to which Wikipedia aspires.
Articles to list here:
- Stub - Articles that are very short. These should be tagged with , or a WikiProject Stub sorting/Stub types.
- Longer articles that still need expansion. Be sure to tag these when you nominate them.
- Sections in particular need of expansion within an article may be tagged with .
Articles not to list here:
How to add a new listing
Please list entries chronologically (newest at top) and add
to the talk page,
with a note about what needs to be expanded. On this page, be sure to sign your post with
~~~~ so the date will be included. Please also bold the title of the article you are adding, to make the list easier to read.
Instead of using , you may instead choose to add an item to an article's todo list, located on the talk page. Add the template to the top of the article's talk page, and then fill out the /todo subpage explaining what needs to be added.
Cleanup needed
Please help remove listings which have already been expanded. To determine this, you can check the article's history tab. Compare the length of the article from when the request was posted here to its current length. If there was a request for expansion of a particular point, see if this was done.
Articles that have been expanded should have the tag removed from the talk or article page.
In order to prevent this page from getting too long, requests older than six months should be removed from this page entirely. When doing so, please move the comment accompanying the request from this page to the article's talk page, and make sure it is tagged . This ensures that the article will continue to be featured on the Opentask list and Category:Articles to be expanded until it is eventually expanded.
More listings
Many articles tagged are listed in
Category:Articles to be expanded but not on this page.
2006
Please place new requests at the
top of the appropriate list and make the article link
bold.
- Cultural history of the United States. This article was nominated as a collaboration of the week in August 2005, but I'm not sure what happened to it since then. I don't see any reason that this article should be a stub, as there is a wealth of information. This page has "featured article" written all over it, or it will just as soon as someone writes something on it. Isopropyl 02:22, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
- I removed stubs and just called this page a disambiguation page, because I thought it would be hard to describe all of the culture of the United States in one article. I believe that having links to all the separate aspects of "culture" is the best way to accomplish the goal. J. Finkelstein 05:53, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
- 405 (movie) Movie recieved a lot of attention when it was released online in 2000 and probably has historical significance as an early example of personal computers being used to create movies that had effects comparable to Hollywood films. Probably hasn't been in Wikipedia because it was popular just before Wikipedia itself started.
- Zay N. Smith This article is too lopsided in favor of Smith's most recent work. The guy has been in the business for several decades, and it would be nice to have more info about his earlier accomplishments. Zagalejo 20:03, 2 March 2006 (UTC)
- Aniconism - currently minimal information. As seen from the debate over at Jyllands-Posten Muhammad cartoons, a great deal of illuminating material could be written about the subject, especially on the gulf between the West's freedom of speech and Islam's consideration that a drawing of Mohammed is blasphemous and insulting to all Muslims. The two sides seem to be astounded the other side doesn't see things the same way, as far as I can tell. This would be a good page to expand greatly on this interesting (and currently topical) topic. - Trading with the Enemy Act - I did a lot of work on this page. Then someone said in talk that I was confusing two different laws, which seemed to be the case, so I spun off part into International Emergency Economic Powers Act.
