article

Almost every article in Wikipedia could do with some expansion. This page is for listing those for which there is a specific request. It is an excellent venue to publicize important articles which are embarrassingly short or insufficient for an encyclopedia of the stature to which Wikipedia aspires.

Articles to list here:

  • Stub - Articles that are very short. These should be tagged with , or a WikiProject Stub sorting/Stub types.
  • Longer articles that still need expansion. Be sure to tag these when you nominate them.
  • Sections in particular need of expansion within an article may be tagged with .

Articles not to list here:

How to add a new listing

Please list entries chronologically (newest at top) and add to the talk page, with a note about what needs to be expanded. On this page, be sure to sign your post with ~~~~ so the date will be included. Please also bold the title of the article you are adding, to make the list easier to read.

Instead of using , you may instead choose to add an item to an article's todo list, located on the talk page. Add the template to the top of the article's talk page, and then fill out the /todo subpage explaining what needs to be added.

Cleanup needed

Please help remove listings which have already been expanded. To determine this, you can check the article's history tab. Compare the length of the article from when the request was posted here to its current length. If there was a request for expansion of a particular point, see if this was done.

Articles that have been expanded should have the tag removed from the talk or article page.

In order to prevent this page from getting too long, requests older than six months should be removed from this page entirely. When doing so, please move the comment accompanying the request from this page to the article's talk page, and make sure it is tagged . This ensures that the article will continue to be featured on the Opentask list and Category:Articles to be expanded until it is eventually expanded.

More listings

Many articles tagged are listed in Category:Articles to be expanded but not on this page.

Please place new requests at the top of the appropriate list and make the article link bold.

Perusing the article's Votes_for_deletion/Muliebrity probably provides more information than the article itself! Additionally, I question some of the existing content, which uses femininity and womanhood as well as masculine and virility as near-synonyms. As far as I can tell, they're concepts that are different enough to warrent distinction in a gender-studies related article. CS42 00:39, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

    • United States Penitentiary, Leavenworth - more on history, current status, famous inmates, etc would make this a much better article. Right now, it's too long to be a stub, but not complete yet.
    • Weatherzone - Article right now reads like a dicdef or an advertising blurb. While it may be important to Australians, not being one I don't see how it is; if it is significant, it needs to be exanded so it doesn't end up on VFD listing.--Mitsukai 15:45, 5 Jun 2005 (UTC)
I'm a weatherzone user, and I don't think the weatherzone website itself is significant enough to warrant an article. It's just a glorified version of the Bureau of Meteorology website. I do think there would be a case for creating an article on The Weather Company, which manages weatherzone, and also is the main distributor of weather information to TV stations. I'll see what I can do about it, though I really should be studying for exams now :) -- Pianoman87 03:30, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)

    • USS Nimitz (CVN-68) - Nimitz has been a part of the Navy since the early 1970s, and the lack of history in the "Ship's History" section is disconcerting. TomStar81 22:52, 7 Apr 2005 (UTC)
    • European Computer Trade Show - This article has only just been started (surprising, considering how well known it is). • A. WeissmannThis individual is clearly worthy of inclusion of wikipedia, but this is just a list of achievements. I'm wary of deleting it -- someone could write a little blurb about him before the list and it'd be a fine stub. But as it is, this is just a list, not an article. --Zantastik 17:01, 11 Apr 2005 (UTC). Added by --Randolph 04:40, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC) after discovering it was tagged but not listed.

    • Constitution Restoration Act of 2005: it's proving extremely difficult to dig up any sort of reliable, non-biased information on this new extremely right-wing law-in-progress. It's a very simple yet very frightening bill. 209.223.11.23 23:10, 29 Mar 2005 (UTC)

    • How-To I think it would be really interesting to see a how-to section (perhaps called wiki-how-to) that would attempt to explain how to do certain things. There could be sections for more academic subjects (ie algebra, statistics) as well as practical subjects (buying a car, etc). In some cases these would cross the line from fact to opinion, but they could be very helpful.

    • IED - Improvised Explosive Device - Should describe the typical devices used in Iraq, and countermeasures (jamming).

    • Doxylamine - Should be updated to Wikipedia standards by someone with pharmaceutical expertise. I started the article because it's the antihistamine in NyQuil, but I can't even find a chemical formula for it.

    • firebrick - Could do with a lot of expansion. I've only found some references to it in other places.

    • Dual-tone multi-frequency - Very technical & strong article, but would benefit greatly from someone placing some kind of table relating tones to musical notation - someone's also requested this in the discussion page.

    • AASHTO - I have a feeling this article has great potential, because this is a big organization with a lot of influence. I've requested more information from AASHTO, but their website already has a great deal of useful info we can incorporate. Some users were trying to move it to Wiktionary because of its stubbiness, and I'd like to avert this. Dcoetzee 18:49, 18 Feb 2005 (UTC)
