This page is an incomplete list of proposed Merging and moving pages. Anyone may list any article merger proposal here. This is optional, and it does not replace any of the other steps in the Merging and moving pages#Proposing a merger. Please add the appropriate Template messages/Merging and splitting to the articles before listing them here.

Guidelines

In general, this page should be used primarily to solicit outside feedback regarding mergers (particularly those of a controversial nature), or assistance with difficult or complicated mergers. Brief replies may be posted here, but lengthy discussions should be confined to the talk pages of the articles involved. After articles are merged (or a consensus that the articles should not be merged is reached), please remove them from the list below.

July 2006

  • Merge Okiku into Bancho Sarayashiki. Okiku is a character in Bancho Sarayashiki, but there is not enough individual information on the character to warrent an individual page. Everything contained on the Okiku page is duplicated on the Bancho Sarayashiki page, but in more detail. MightyAtom 12:57, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

  • Merge Italus and Italos. Seem to refer to same (semi-mythical) person, a user has placed the alternative in brackets on all relevant pages. I tagged these pages for merger last week, and no-one has commented one way or the other. I would do it myself, but I'm not sure which would be best to have the article under going forward, so I wanted to open it up for more discussion. David Underdown 12:38, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

Redirected and cleanup to Foursquare house. I didn't keep the illustration, it's not too good. TekeTeke 18:47, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

Duplicate article redirected. TekeTeke 18:47, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

Duplicate redirected, you may want to wiggle in the few tidbits that were not in Diamond problem; I'm unfamiliar with the concept so I left that part alone. TekeTeke 18:47, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

Done. TekeTeke 18:48, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

  • Merge Echoes of Faydwer into EverQuest II. Does an expension pack (one that even doesn't excist at the moment!) really need a page of it's own? Gnorn 19:53, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

  • Merge Ossian with Oisín or with James MacPherson. An anonymous IP has proposed that Ossian be merged with Oisín. I think it would be better merged with the article on James MacPherson or left alone so I made the alternative merge proposal.Filceolaire 12:50, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

  • Merge Znaju Ja (single) with Znaju Ja. The articles are entirely identical except for a semantic difference in their subjects: Znaju Ja is about a song, Znaju Ja (single) is about a single CD that it appears on. Also the articles could do with a clean-up, it looks like they're written by Ruslana herself, or more likely, her agent. JIP | JIP 08:54, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

18:34, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

  • Merge at least most of Syndactyly into Dactyly. The former reads as if it should be at the latter title (it starts "In zoology, dactyly is...") and has lots of interesting information that is not relevant to the concept of syntactyly itself. Hairy Dude 18:26, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

  • Merge Mii (now a mere redirection to Jungle de Ikou!, an anime in which Mii is a character) with MII Disabiguation page. The redirection is quite confusing - Ppchailley 14:56, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

June 2006

  • Ultimate Spider-Man (character) into Ultimate Spider-Man. This is a derivative character, based on Spider-Man, who already has his own entry. Additionally, the already existing Ultimate Spider-Man entry covers not just the comic book series of the same name, but also focuses a great deal on the character, even detailing his adventures in other "Ultimate" series. The "(character)" entry is largely an abridgment of the Ultimate Spider-Man series, a type of entry the Comics Wikiproject is currently trying to reduce in accordance with fair use prwctices. --ChrisGriswold 17:10, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

  • Symbolist painters into Symbolism (arts). At one tine the main Symbolism page was focused chiefly on poetry; it no longer is, and now encompasses music, prose, and theatre. Not sure that the continued separation of the Symbolist painters into a separate page remains justified. Ihcoyc 15:48, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

  • Since April 11 National Origins Quota Act has been tagged by another user for merger into Immigration Act of 1924. However, there has been no corresponding tag on the other entry and the matter was not brought into this forum. As the existing discussion indicates, both articles are about the same legislation, which was known by more than one name. National is a stub containing a few additional details which can be tranferred. Conversely, Immigration had once been a fairly lengthy article, incorporating excerpts from congressional debate, but was severely reduced over plagiarism and POV issues. Even in its present shortened form, it is the distinctly more informative entry. --Romanspinner 05:30, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

Community-supported/unopposed merger proposals

  • The List of Irish playwrights may be merged into the somewhat better developed List of Irish dramatists. Many names on both lists are the same and the rest should be combined. While there is more than a semantic difference between a "dramatist" and a "playwright", all the other lists in that category use the word "playwright", so to avoid retitling, an argument can be made for a merge in the other direction. --Romanspinner 05:30, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

  • Merge Wildcats v2 into Wildcats (comics). The main entry covers volumes one through three of the series; there's no reason for volume two to get an article to itself. Gabriel Roth 07:39, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

  • Merge Environmental design into Sustainable design, writing a new article for the former. Currently, the former is described as synonymous with the latter, which is actually a neologism (albeit a widespread one). An entirely different normantive meaning (also widespread) for "Environmental design" already exists, which is not given any coverage in its current article.Skybum 18:04, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

  • Hypernova is a very loose term, but it is produced by the much more well-defined object, collapsar. It would be made more obvious that they are the same thing if they were part of the same article (collapsar would be the more sensible choice to keep). Sharkbait784 15:00, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

  • Voice organ and Phonation. I don't know which way to merge - the latter is the better article but the former is a more familiar term. -- Djbb2 19:31, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
Having read Phonation, I think they should either be left seperate or phonation merged into voice organ, as the second includes the first. I'm no expert, though...Djbb2 19:37, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

  • Debutante ball into Debutante. The former article currently describes only one type of debutante ball (the Irish one), while the latter article has details for the tradition in a number of countries. Mgcsinc 22:40, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

Merger proposals presently under debate

  • Depersonalization disorder into Depersonalization—they both describe the same disorder in slighly different ways. They could possibly be made more separate, but each has so little content that I'm in favor of merging them. --Tifego 04:47, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

  • Seems iffy, but I think it could work. If possible, I'd like to assist with the categorization. -MegamanZeroMegamanZero 18:29, 16 January 2006 (UTC) \Jtdirl 22:32, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

  • Shouldn't all the lawsuits on the Lowell page be on the San Francisco Unified School District page instead, since they're NAACP v. San Francisco Unified School District, Ho v. San Francisco Unified School District, and the Consent Decree applies to ALL schools in the San Francisco Unified School District, not just Lowell? --69.106.248.138 18:09, 29 December 2005 (UTC)

  • Foreign relations between Japan and China & Sino-Japanese relations: I've unmerged these two because the previous merge was a simple copy-&-paste job, with no consideration of the content (How can the "Concluding Remarks" be in the middle and above the Table of Contents ?). Need someone familiar with the topic to incorporate the materials into one article that flows properly. -- PFHLai 14:29, 28 September 2005 (UTC)
