Watson Brake is an archaeological site located in the floodplain of the Ouachita River near Monroe in northern Louisiana. It has been given an absolute date of 5400 years Before present (appox. 3400 BCE) and is thus considered to be the earliest mound site in North America, with its eleven mounds being the earliest extant human-built structures on the continent.
