Washington Hunt (1811 - 1867) was a judge in Niagara County and served as a congressman. He was elected governor of New York as a Whig in 1850, but was defeated for re-election by Horatio Seymour in 1852. Born in Greene County, New York, Hunt was a long-time resident of the City of Lockport and died in New York City.
