Trivia
- Although a top superstar and undefeated at WrestleMania (14-0), The Undertaker has only won a match at No Mercy once. He has lost 3 main event gimmick matches as the challenger to the WWE Championship that should have been looked at as Undertaker's "specialty" matches. He lost to Brock Lesnar in a Hell in a Cell match in 2002, Brock Lesnar in a Biker Chain match in 2003, and John Bradshaw Layfield in a Last Ride match in 2004. Though not a main event, Undertaker also lost a Handicap Casket Match to Randy & Cowboy Bob Orton in 2005, another "Undertaker specialty" match.
- This event is often cited as the "Heel's PPV" since six of the eight events featured heel superstars dominating the main event.
- Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker were in the main event two consecutive years in 2002 and 2003.
- No Mercy 2005 was Eddie Guerrero's final pay-per-view event before his death later that year. No Mercy 2005 was also held on Eddie's Birthday. After the show, Batista led the crowd in singing "happy birthday" to "Latino Heat".
- No Mercy 2003 was the only match between Kurt Angle and John Cena wherein John Cena was a heel and Kurt Angle was a face. The rest of their matches, in order (John Cena's Smackdown Debut Vs. Kurt Angle, the one-on-one No.1 Contender's Finals Match at No Way Out 2005, the WWE Championship Match at Unforgiven 2005 and at Survivor Series 2005), Kurt Angle was a Heel and John Cena was a face.
- John "Bradshaw" Layfield, The Undertaker, and Christian have all competed at 6 No Mercy events, which is a record. JBL has the best win-loss record of these competitors, going 3-2-1. Christian is 2-4-0, while Undertaker is 1-5-0.
- No Mercy 2005 was the first Pay Per View since WrestleMania XX where John "Bradshaw" Layfield was not in a match for the WWE or World Heavyweight Championship. He had been in every Smackdown top title match since Judgment Day 2004, a streak of 12 pay per views, or 17 months.
- No Mercy 2002 was the first night to feature Tag Team Championship matches from both RAW and SmackDown!
- During Chris Jericho's tenure in WWE, he was undefeated at the No Mercy Pay-Per-View from 2000 to 2002.
Theme song
Although the WWE is known to pick mainstream music for their PPV theme songs, No Mercy sometimes features it's own WWE produced theme song entitled (appropriately),
"No Mercy". This song was composed by the WWE's music producer, Jim Johnston. The song debuted at No Mercy 2002 and was featured in full on that event's DVD menu screen. The song was later remixed and was used again for No Mercy 2004. Just like the No Mercy 2002 DVD, the No Mercy 2004 DVD featured the new version of the song in full on it's menu screen. The lyrics vary slightly between the two versions, but remain mostly the same.
