The WCW World Tag Team Championship was the major tag team title in World Championship Wrestling from 1991 to 2001, when the promotion closed.

History

The first WCW World Tag Team Champions were Doom, who held the version of the NWA World Tag Team Championship that was created by Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling and subsequently recognized by WCW. This version of the NWA World Tag Team Championship was renamed the WCW World Tag Team Championship in January 1991. From July 1992 to September 1993, the WCW World Tag Team Championship was unified with the current version of the NWA World Tag Team Championship, but the titles were split when WCW left the National Wrestling Alliance.

The last WCW World Tag Team Champions (with WCW as an independent company) were Sean O'Haire and Chuck Palumbo, who went on to the World Wrestling Federation in the March 2001 sale to defend the title there.

Under WWF ownership, the title was still defended and held mostly by WWF stars until a unification match with the WWF Tag Team Championship (now known as the World Tag Team Championship) between the Hardy Boyz and the Dudley Boyz. By virtue of a win in that cage match, The Dudley Boyz won both championships, and thus were the last WCW World Tag Team Champions.
