The vibrational states of a molecule can be probed in a variety of ways. The most direct way is infrared spectroscopy because vibrational transitions typically require an amount of energy that corresponds to the infrared region of the spectrum. However, Raman spectroscopy, vibrational circular dichroism and electron energy loss spectroscopy also provide vibrational information.
