VectorWorks

VectorWorks is a computer-aided design (CAD) software program developed by Nemetschek North America (NNA) that is used for drafting, technical drawing and 3D modeling.

Description

VectorWorks is CAD software with a lower price than AutoCAD, the industry leader. VectorWorks is localized and sold in numerous countries, and runs on both Windows and Macintosh platforms.

VectorWorks is able to communicate with other applications via importing and exporting files.

VectorWorks incorporates an internal Pascal based scripting language called VectorScript that lets its users create custom tools. Custom tools can be found and downloaded on the web. Some are free, others are for profit.

There are several versions of VectorWorks each targeted at a particular industry: Buildings/Interiors, Lighting/Set Design, Landscape/Planning, Machine Design/Fabrication, etc. Each version has tools specific to that industry.

The core features are available in the VectorWorks Fundamentals version.

History

VectorWorks was previously known as MiniCAD. It was originally developed on the Macintosh OS. It was developed by Diehl Graphsoft now Nemetschek North America.
