Vattenfall AB, literally "Waterfall", is a Swedish energy company and one of the leading energy producers in Northern Europe. Production resources for hydroelectric power is mainly located in Northern Sweden, nuclear power north of Stockholm at Forsmark, gas and coal based power in Germany and Poland. Vattenfall is wholly owned by the state of Sweden. The name is an abbreviation of its original name, Royal Waterfall Board (Kungliga Vattenfallstyrelsen).

Vattenfall is on the cutting edge of global energy preservation, which is layed out in their initiative to lower global CO2 emissions. In recent months President and CEO of Vattenfall, Lars G Josefsson, introduced "global burden-sharing" during a presentation at the United Nations.
