Varminter, a contraction of the term varmint hunter, is someone who hunts varmints. Varminter is also used as a term to describe hunting equipment either specifically designed for, or suitable for varmint hunting. Examples are varminter rifle and varminter bullets.

The definitive varmints are ground burrowing animals such as groundhogs and prairie dogs. These animals are small and difficult to approach closely, and hunting them requires a long range, highly accurate rifle. While many varmint hunters hunt by necessity, as they are the owners of the property being damaged, most varmint hunters hunt for sport (generally at the inviation of the landowner) or for bounty, which may be offered either by a landowner or by a government agency charged with controlling the varmints.
