UniBG also referred to as University BG or sometimes United BG is the largest Bulgarian IRC network. It is currently floating between 5th and 7th position among all IRC networks according to the stats by irc.netsplit.de. It is topping ~50 000 users in the winter and an estimated ~35 000 for the upcomming summer of 2006. UniBG was established in the q4 of 1996. It is called UniBG because the first servers were run from Bulgarian universities (University BG). It is only later when commercial ISP's joined in that the term United BG was more commonly used.

The software used on the servers is a slightly patched ircd-ratbox, which (unpatched) is widely used on EFnet. Before ircd-ratbox, the software used was a very old version of hybrid and it was slowly replaced between june 2005 and march 2006.

There are services for nickname (NS) and channel (CS) registration. They are a fork from hybserv and are scheduled to be replaced by a fork of ratbox-services in july 2006.
